MECHANICALLY POLISHED CONCRETE

 

What stage do we come in to do the polished concrete on new build?

Preferable after the frame and roof are in position, prior to gyprock being installed. It will be more cost effective also.

How hard the concrete should be?

For high quality finish, we suggest the concrete to be minimum 32 Mpa, it will help also with reducing shrinkage cracks.

Can polish concrete be plain?

Yes, we install an industrial finish polished concrete, as no exposed aggregate is seen. The concrete slab must be installed flat, and burnished with helicopter.

How much does Polished Concrete Cost?

Can i choose the colour of the concrete?

Yes, when pouring a new slab,, you can choose different colour concrete and aggregate. The aggregate has different sizes also. 

Is Polished Concrete slippery?

No, It exceeds safety standards for commercial and residential projects, as long the floor is dry, its safe.

How do you maintain it?

To maintain our signature polished concrete, always keep the floor clean, using warm water and a microfibre mop. 

Can polished concrete floor stain? 

Mechanically polished floors are stain resistant, but not stain free. All floors should be cleaned after a mishap immediately.

How long does it take to grind and polish a floor?

It can take between 5 to 7 days to grind and polish a 100 sqm project. It all depends the finish required and the conditions of the existing concrete slab.

Can concrete polished floor cracks be filled?

Yes, We treat all the cracks and holes with a special polymer filler, an all the pin holes are filled with a grouting system.

How long does polished concrete floors last?

Residential can last up to 10 years, and commercial up to 5 years if properly maintained.  

Can polished concrete floors be done with skirting on?

Yes it can, but we suggest our clients to remove the skirting  for better results, as we can grind very close to the wall without skirting.

Can Polished Concrete be stained?

Yes,  a concrete dye can be added to the concrete during the polishing process.  There is a variety of colours and shades.

 

 

 

 

CUSTOM CONCRETE BENCH TOPS

 

What type of concrete does Concreation Concepts use on Bench tops?

We use GFRC (Glass Fibre Reinforced Concrete). Its a light weight concrete extremely durable, able to active any size and shape concrete.

How long does it take to fabricate a custom made counter top?

Usually It takes approximately 2 to 3 weeks to build a custom concrete top, all depend on the size, complexity and how busy we are at the time

How are concrete bench tops made?

It’s precast in our factory, and fully finished prior to installation. In some cases, we need to cut the sink recess on site. Dust extractor equipment are used to eliminate the dust.

When is the Counter top templating done?

The template is done when the cabinetry is already installed in place. Template is very important to be done, as some times the walls may be out.

How do we transport large pieces of precast concrete bench tops?

We use appropriate transportation to the required location.  Our concrete is much lighter then normal concrete, making easier to transport.

Are there any structural considerations in regards to the weight of the counter tops?

Our concrete weighs less than quartz or granite counter tops, our GRFC will suit most of projects.

Can a concrete benchtop or sink, be made of concrete?

Yes, we have different types of basin and sink designs. For a custom design sinks,  it may take longer to get build.

How are the benchtops installed?

Concrete benchtops are installed by our team, using silicone or megapoxy, and appropriate reinforcements. 

What is the colour range of the precast concrete?

Any colour is possible. Most popular colours are light grey, medium grey and dark grey. Take a look at our colour chart.

Are concrete bbq benchtops suitable for outdoor use?

Yes, the concrete counter tops for outdoor areas have UV resistant sealers applied.  They are totally suitable for exterior use.

What size does the counter tops come in?

It can be made in any size and shape. The maximum size is one piece is 3.2 metres x 1.5 metres. All depend the thickness and weight.

How thick can a concrete benchtop be made?

It can be made at minimum of 20mm to any thickness. Most of the my clients have at 40mm thick.
